I describe many mods here (more than the classic mods for the original), including mistakes and spelling glitches, and feel I rather want to spend time on other synth modding\/development projects. <\/sub><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some RD8 schematics (for instruments, these were adopted from the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synthxl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Roland-TR-808-Service-Notes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Roland TR808 service manual<\/a> and are preliminary versions unless declared otherwise).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For possible modifications check the main RD8 mods page <a href=\"https:\/\/maffez.com\/?page_id=160\">here<\/a> or search for 808\/<a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-licktronic.com\/forum\/viewforum.php?f=18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yocto<\/a> mod pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Instrument schematics <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bass Drum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"732\" height=\"591\" src=\"https:\/\/maffez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/BD.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-624\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maffez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/BD.jpg 732w, https:\/\/maffez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/BD-300x242.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 732px) 100vw, 732px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">RD8 BD schematics<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Except for the newly implemented BD Tune potentiometer, the circuit is a replica of the TR808 bass drum. One more or less spectacular deviation being the RS attenuating resistor (with its value label 220K missing in the original schematics, first guessed by Behringer at an extremely low value, then increased to 82k).  Another change, similar to the toms, is at IC25C with resistor values changed in the op-amp feedback path and a capacitor implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clap\/Maracas<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"754\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/maffez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/CP-754x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-663\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maffez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/CP-754x1024.jpg 754w, https:\/\/maffez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/CP-221x300.jpg 221w, https:\/\/maffez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/CP-768x1043.jpg 768w, https:\/\/maffez.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/CP.jpg 781w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">RD8 CP\/MA schematics<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>While the Maracas circuit is true to the 808 schematics, the Clap underwent some changes. Firstly the CP offset trimmer is used as a potentiometer with two resisitors between GND and V+ limiting the offset range. The feedback resistor in the CP bandpass filter has a higer value (150k). Two further changes are on accounbt of obsolete ICs. A LM339 is used instead of an AN6912 for the sawtooth envelope, and a VM13700M replaces the BA662 (as of recently manufactued again, by coolaudio) as a 1:1 drop-in replacement VCA. (The small cap part numbers around T20, T21 and T26 in my trace are yet incomplete\/slightly off. Firstly, the highpass circuits are extended by variable resistors (VR 27 and VR28, values need checking) and a 1k resistor each (replacing the fixed 2.7k resistor in the origina\u00f6 808).
